Pennville Pumpkin Festival is Saturday

Pennville is the place for pumpkins.
Pennville Pumpkin Festival is scheduled for Saturday at Pennville Park.
Activities are scheduled throughout the day with a pancake and sausage breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. and a 5K run/jog/walk at 8:30 a.m. Giant pumpkin weigh-in — registration is required between 9 and 11 a.m., and first prize is $1,000 — will be at 11 a.m. with awards at 1 p.m.
There will be games, activities and vendors available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the costume contest is scheduled for 4 p.m. A hog roast will run from 4 to 7 p.m., and hayrides will be available in the afternoon.
Attended training
Members of the Portland chapter of Tri Kappa sorority attended the province convention and officer training recently at First Presbyterian Church in Muncie.
Attending the session were Jodi McKee, Carla Johnson and Tami Tillman from the Portland chapter and Linda Ashcraft, Leora Engle and Maria Hiatt from the associate chapter.
Internships available
The Indiana Senate Republican Caucus is offering paid internships for the spring semester.
Candidates must be a college sophomore or older. Internships are full-time positions with a biweekly stipend of $750.
