Mrs. Nancy Carole Woodward Kelly, age 65, of Madison, Indiana, entered this life on Nov. 10, 1953 in Louisville, Kentucky.
She was the loving daughter of the late Robert A. and Helen J. Hubbard Woodward Grable. She resided her early life in Louisville and then her family moved to Madison in 1964. Nancy was a 1972 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School. On March 14, 1970, Nancy was united in marriage to Ben "Benny" Kelly in Louisville, Kentucky. This happy union of 49 years was blessed with six children, Chemaign, B.J., Ellen, Gwen, Elizabeth and Caitlin.
She and Ben moved to Portland, Indiana in 1974, and Nancy assisted Ben and his brother, Howell at Kelly Brothers Goodyear Tire Store for 16 years. Nancy and Ben would return to Madison in 1996. In 1999, Nancy began as a teacher's aide at Pope John Elementary School and worked with grades two through six for 20 years until her recent retirement.
Nancy's greatest joy was her family; she also found time to enjoy dancing, reading, mowing, cleaning, doing DIY projects and volunteering, especially at Pope John. While she resided in Portland, Indiana, she was involved in Mothers of Twins Club, water aerobics and bowling. She would also babysit numerous children in the community while raising her six children. She was a faithful member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Madison. Nancy died on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2019, at 1:44 a.m. at her home in Madison, Indiana.
Nancy will be missed by her loving husband of whom she shared 50 years together, Ben "Benny" Kelly of Madison, Indiana; her beloved children, Chemaign Drumm and her husband Scott of Madison, Indiana, B.J. Kelly and his wife Rachel of Hagerstown, Indiana, Ellen Kelly Lewis of Madison, Indiana, Gwen Kelly of Madison, Indiana, Elizabeth Kelly and her companion Will Perkins of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Caitlin Tucker and her husband Zach of South Bend, Indiana; her loving grandchildren, Brogan Drumm, Madison Drumm, Olivia Drumm, Luke Kelly, Ella Kelly, Mackenzie Lewis, Izabelle Lewis, Taylor Kelly and Nick Weatherbee; her adoring great-grandchildren, Jackson and Landon; her brother-in-law, Johnny Benfield of Louisville, Kentucky; her brother, Doug "Woody" Woodward and his wife Jill of Madison, Indiana; her nieces and nephew, Keth Hicks and her husband, Dana, Trent Woodward and his wife, Missy, Whitney Johnson and her husband Caleb; her great-nephew and great-niece, Wyatt and Clara; her uncle, Bruce Woodward and his wife Shirley; the Kelly nieces and nephews, Christian Kelly and his wife Jaema and family, Gavin Kelly and his wife Jenny and family, Sarah Farley and her husband Mike and family, Zach Kelly and wife Larissa and family, Veronica Prechtel and her husband Mike and family, Richard Kelly and his wife Laura and family, Mary Herman and her husband Chris and family; 24 Kelly great-nieces and great-nephews; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Kelly, Katie Gray, Richard Kelly and his wife Barbara, Georgie Kelly and Janie Kelly; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert A. Grable, who died, Dec. 2, 1993; her mother, Helen J. Hubbard Woodward Grable, who died June 19, 2010; her sister, Susan Elizabeth Benfield, who died July 8, 2019; her nephew, Trevor Corey Woodward, who died July 8, 2016; and her brother-in-law, Howell Kelly and Spalding Kelly.
Funeral Mass will be conducted Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019, at 10 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Christopher A. Craig at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 413 E. Second St., in downtown Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the St. Patrick Cemetery, 305 W. State St., in Madison, Indiana.
Friends may visit Friday from 2 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive, in Madison, Indiana.
The Rosary will be prayed on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive, in Madison, Indiana.
