Dorothy L. Strohl, age 81, a resident of Portland, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019, at Persimmon Ridge Rehabilitation Center.
She worked at CVS drugstore and Family Dollar in Portland. She was a member of the Portland Moose Auxiliary for many years.
Dorothy Strohl was born Sept. 18, 1937, in Pike County, Kentucky, the daughter of William and Verdie (Varney) Slater. She was married on July 12, 1969, to James P. Strohl, and he passed away on April 30, 1999.
Survivors include:
One son — Roger Strohl, Portland, Indiana
Two daughters — Deborah Songer, Portland, Indiana, and Rita Morgan, Portland, Indiana
Two sisters — Mary Lou Mays, Delphos, Ohio, and Nina Varney, Huddy, Kentucky
Eight grandchildren
Eight great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by a son, Chris Maynard; a brother, William Slater; and a sister, Pat Pennington.
Visitation for Dorothy Strohl will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday in the Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Steve Arnold officiating the services. Burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery in Portland.
