Wyatt Jolan Bates, 32, departed this life on Thursday, July 18, 2019, doing what he loved: driving.
He was born Feb. 27, 1987, to Johnny and Mary Harrison Bates of Portland, Indiana.
He attended Jay County schools and enjoyed the high school drags in the old green farm truck.
Wyatt leaves to cherish his memory, his parents, Johnny and Mary Harrison Bates of Portland, Indiana; sister Johnnie Bates (Rob Bolinger) of Fort Wayne, Indiana; brother Richard Bates of Portland, Indiana: two beloved nephews, Jeremiah Loper of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Morgan Bates of Portland, Indiana; special niece Kay'tee Bryant (Aaron) of Cleveland, Ohio; grandmother Opal Williamson of Bryant; special cousin Kyla Hall of Ridgeville; best friend Matt Hudson of Portland, Indiana; and an abundance of cherished uncles, aunts and cousins from an extended family.
A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. on Sept. 14, 2019, at the Farmland Conservation Club, 1464 N. 500 West, Winchester, Indiana, with repast to follow. Donations may be made to the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Jerry W. Kinley Funeral Home.
