Help support local cemeteries
Letters to the editor
To the editor:
Starting Friday, Oct. 4, and ending Sunday, Oct. 6, is Community Cemetery Days.
This event is being run by Find-a-Grave, an online cemetery and grave logging website. It is used by millions of genealogists throughout the world.
Community Cemetery Days is a push to get more care and attention to cemeteries, and to mainly upload more pictures to their cemetery and memorial pages. By doing this, genealogists and ancestors can build their research for years to come.
For Jay County, I am setting up some events at cemeteries to give and receive more genealogy and cemetery work for Jay County. A full list of cemeteries and schedule is available on the sign-up page.
In order to sign up to help for these cemeteries, you will have to visit the SignUpGenius page via TinyURL.com/CCDjaycounty. If there are no more spots to sign up on, still come. The more, the merrier.
The sign-up page will have everything you will need to know. Following the last day on Sunday, there is a voluntary dinner at Mrs. Wicks in Winchester. This would be something that you pay for. This gives you an opportunity to learn more from your peers. If you choose to do this, then you will need to give me your party number by Sept. 30.
If you have any questions, you can contact me at [email protected]. I look forward to seeing you help your community.
