Jay hosting beef show

Taking Note

The beef will be at the fairgrounds this weekend.

The Jay County Fall Classic Open Beef Show is slated for Saturday at Jay County Fairgrounds.

Check-in for the show will be from 8 to 10 a.m. The show begins at noon.

There is a $30 entry fee. There is a $250 prize for the grand champion and an $100 prize for the reserve grand champion.



Awarded

Kathleen Jutte of Fort Recovery was one of 19 Trine University students who was awarded a $1,500 Indiana Space Grant Consortium scholarship for the 2019-20 school year.

The scholarship are for students majoring a STEM discipline or STEM education. Jutte is a design engineering major.



To perform

Ball State University’s New Music and Electroacoutstic ensembles will perform at 2 p.m. Sunday at Cornerstone Center for the Arts in Muncie.

The concert is the kickoff to the “Performances @ Cornerstone” series, which is free and open to the public. Other upcoming events in the series will include United Sound & BSU School of Music on Sept. 22, BSU Department of Theatre & Dance on Oct. 13 and BSU Woodwind Chamber Music Ensemble on Oct. 27.

Learn about Ivy

Ivy Tech Community College will host Go Ivy Day events Tuesday and Sept. 25 in Muncie.

Events are set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Maring-Hunt Library, 2005 S. High St., and 1 to 4 p.m. Sept. 25 at Kennedy Library, 1700 W. McGalliard Road. They are designed to allow prospective students to learn about admissions, financial aid, orientation and career services.
