9/11 tribute set for Wednesday

Local residents will have the opportunity to pay tribute next week.
The Jay County 9/11 Tribute Run/Walk is scheduled for Wednesday in Portland.
The event will include the presentation of an Honor and Sacrifice flags to Bryant Volunteer Fire Department and Redkey Volunteer Fire Department during a ceremony at 5:15 p.m. at Freedom Park. Asbury United Methodist Church Pastor Allison Yankey will offer a prayer and Jay County High School senior Rosemary Hemmelgarn will perform the national anthem.
The run/walk, which is free, will begin and end at Freedom Park, first going north on Meridian Street to Industrial Park Drive and then working back south using Franklin Street, Creagor Avenue, and Middle and Ship streets.
Screenings set
Adams Memorial Hospital and Fort Wayne Dermatology will team to offer a free skin cancer screening clinic Oct. 3 at Adams Medical Group in Geneva. Those interested in scheduling a screening can call (260) 724-2145.
Horror is back
Cornerstone Center for the Arts in Muncie will host a showing of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” at 8 p.m. Sept. 28.
Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 the night of the event. Doors will open for general admission at 7:30 p.m.

Ivy Tech?Community College in Muncie will hold express enrollment sessions from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 12, 19 and 26. Students can receive help with admissions, orientation, testing, financial aid and registering for classes.
