The Patriots are back above .500 in conference play.
Jay County High School’s volleyball team swept the Adams Central Jets on Tuesday, 25-12, 25-22, 25-12.
The victory pushes the Patriots to 10-6 and 2-1 in Allen County Athletic Conference play.
Natalie Miles had a team-high 11 kills for Jay County, and she also added six digs, three aces and a block. Madison Dirksen and Sara Hemmelgarn tied for second with six kills each and they both had a pair of blocks apiece. Hallie Fields finished with five kills and two blocks, while Alana Kunkler led the team with five blocks to go with her two kills.
Pacie Denney set up the offense to the tune of 25 assists.
Jay County’s junior varsity team also won, 25-22, 25-22. Madison Brunswick led the squad with five kills, as Madison Jetmore and Lauren Brewster tallied seven digs each.
Tribe still first
NEW KNOXVILLE, Ohio — The Fort Recovery volleyball team kept its hold on first place in the Midwest Athletic Conference by beating the New Knoxville Rangers on Tuesday, 28-30, 25-19, 25-22, 25-22.
The Division IV No. 6 Indians moved to 14-1 (4-0 MAC) on the year and remain in a tie for first place in the conference with Division III No. 4 Coldwater. The Rangers, who finished 19th in this week’s Division IV poll, dipped to 10-3 (2-2 MAC).
Paige Fortkamp rifled a career high 20 kills, Whitley Rammel was second with 14 kills and Paige Jutte tallied 13 kills. Olivia Patch joined them in double figures with 10 kills.
Hope Wendel had 36 assists and Brooke Kahlig registered 18 digs and four aces while Rammel and Fortkamp had four blocks each.
The Tribe junior varsity team beat the Rangers, 25-13, 25-14. Emma Kahlig paced the squad with seven kills. Madelyn Knapke recorded 12 assists and Aubrey Knapke finished with 10 digs and five aces.
Freshmen still perfect
FORT RECOVERY — The youngest FRHS volleyball team stayed perfect Tuesday as the freshman squad swept the Celina Bulldogs 25-11, 25-19.
The Indians moved to 7-0 on the year.
Allysen Fullenkamp and Abby Knapke led the offense with six and four kills, respectively. Fullenkamp also had four blocks, Amy Stammen notched five aces and Faith Wendel contributed six assists.
Chiefs fall to Jets
MONROE — East Jay Middle School’s seventh and eighth grade volleyball teams lost to the Adams Central Jets on Tuesday.
The eighth graders (4-1) fell 25-19, 25-12, while the seventh graders (3-2) are lost 25-15, 25-12.
Sophie Saxman and Bella Denton had three kills each for the eighth graders, while Riah Champ and Maggie Dillon had two kills apiece. Brenna Haines had 10 digs and two aces. Saxman also had five service points, five assists and three aces.
Jaelynn Lykins led the seventh graders with two kills. Cassie Petro and Jasmine Esparza both had an ace.
FR sweeps Rangers
FORT RECOVERY — The Fort Recovery Middle School volleyball teams both swept the New Knoxville Rangers on Tuesday.
The eighth graders won 25-14, 25-21, and the seventh grade squad won 24-8, 25-5.
Teigen Fortkamp and Autumn Jutte both had six kills for the eighth graders, and Marissa Schoen had three aces.
Kennedy Muhlenkamp and Kayla Heitkamp had three kills each to lead seventh grade team. Muhlenkamp also had eight aces. Emma Will tallied seven aces as Karlie Niekamp finished with two kills.
