Tom Scott

Tom “Charles” Scott, age 85, a resident of Portland, passed away on Monday, Sept. 16, 2019, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
Tom was born May 13, 1934, in Portland. Tom married his sweetheart Mary Coons and celebrated 64 years of marriage.
He retired from Sheller Globe in Montpellier after 50 years.
He enjoyed retirement, fishing, working on bicycles and tinkering with lawn mowers, camping at Paradise Pointe, riding around on his golf cart, collecting cans and telling stories. He was always available to lend a hand and help to any who asked.
Tom also, was a lifelong member of the Portland Eagles.
Survivors include:
Six daughters — Cindy Brown (Rick), Portland, Pam Reading (Archie), Portland, Sharon Ausland (Kenny), Portland, Patty Carter, Redkey, Kim Galloway (Carey), Geneva, and Stacy Jordan (Chad), Union City, Ohio
One son — Jeff Scott (Mickey), Portland
Two sisters — Bernie Franks, Portland, and Alberta Boller, Dunkirk
Thirteen grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his wife; son Jerry; five brothers; and three sisters.
Visitation will be held Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral home in Portland.
Funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Arnold officiating the service. Burial will follow in Wells Cemetery west of Bryant.
Memorials may be directed to Jay County Heart Fund.
