Connie Howell

Connie E. Howell, age 70, a resident of Portland, passed away Wednesday, Sept.18, 2019, at her home.

Connie was born Dec. 11, 1948, in Portland, the daughter of Charles and Rosalie (Merry) McAfee. She was a graduate of Portland High School in 1967. She then married Herbert Howell on Dec. 30, 1976. He passed away on March 26, 2018.

Survivors include: 

One brother — Mike McAfee, Portland

Three sons — Brad Stoner (wife: LaCresha), Bryant, Indiana, David A. Stoner, Portland, Indiana, and Robert Howell (wife: Amber), Portland, Indiana 

One daughter — Brenda Howell, Bluffton, Indiana

Three step-sons — Herbert Howell, Nathaniel Howell (wife: Gayle), Pendleton, Indiana, and Richard Howell (wife: Malinda), Union City, Ohio

Four step-daughters — Shirley Gruss (husband: Dennis), Portland, Indiana, and Rebecca Hudson (husband: Waldo), Portland, Indiana, Beverly Phenis, Portland, Indiana, and Mary Emrick (husband: Dennis), Greenville, Ohio

Including several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren

Visitation will be held Sunday from noon to 2 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. on Sunday with Pastor Hugh Kelly officiating the service. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery north east of Portland. 

Memorials may be directed to Southern Care Hospice.
