YORKTOWN — A freshman had another top-five finish.
Her team did, too.
Lydia Keihn, a Jay County High School freshman, was fourth overall in helping the Patriot girls cross country team take third Saturday in the Yorktown Invitational.
Lawrence North scored 43 points for the championship, and host Yorktown scored 71 for second. The Patriots had 93 points.
Lawrence North also won the boys race with 32 points to sweep the day. Greenfield-Central was the runner-up with 89 points, and Yorktown placed third with 103 points. Jay County had 257 points for ninth.
Keihn had a time of 20 minutes, 50 seconds, to finish fourth. It was the fourth time in five races the youngster has been in the top five, including one victory.
Raven Weaver and Sophia Fugiett were 12th and 13th, respectively, as they both finished in 22:06. Lindy Wood was 14th in 22:11, and Lita Chowning took 50th in 26:24.
Aaron Funkhouser led the JCHS boys as he was 41st in 19:29. Mitchell Winner ended 43rd in 19:41, and Ben Hunter was 54th in 20:04.
Ethan Andreshak (20:23) finished 59th, and Dustin Harris (20:24) was 60th.
Tribe girls fifth
VERSAILLES, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s girls cross country team finished fifth Saturday in the Tour de Sewer hosted by the Versailles Tigers.
Brookville won the 10-team race with 60 points, edging St. Marys Memorial by three points. Coldwater scored 80 points. Fort Recovery had 125 points.
Botkins totaled 54 points to win the 13-team boys race. Brookville (73) and Memorial (102) were second and third, respectively, while Fort Recovery was 10th with 248 points.
Hanna Metzger led the FRHS girls by finishing 20th in 22:38. Alexis Wendel (22:57), Alyssa Heinrichs (22:58) and Megan Diller (23:03) finished 24th through 26th, respectively. Caitlin Weitzel was 35th in 23:31.
Drew Muhlenkamp was the top FRHS boy with his 12th-place finish in 18:07. Connor Gower (19:41) was 51st, Jared Timmerman (20:17) took 69th, Ethan Evers (20:53) ended 81st and Jayden McEldowney (21:23) finished 85th.

SELMA — Ayla Grabner carried the East Jay Middle School girls cross country team to the championship of the Selma Invitational on Friday.
East Jay totaled 36 points for the title. Monroe Central scored 57 for second, and Delta was third with 109.
The EJMS boys were seventh in the race for sixth and seventh graders, and the eighth grade boys finished eighth.
Grabner was third overall, two spots ahead of Natalie Carreno. Alexis Sibray placed eighth, Paityn Wendel finished 15th and Aubrey Millspaugh was 17th.
Creed Beiswanger led the sixth/seventh grade boys by finishing fifth. Gabe Pinkerton was three spots behind, and Jacob Monroe was 20th. Ethan Bell (57th) and David Keen (61st) also scored.
Tony Wood placed third overall in the eighth grade race. Zander Hudson finished 49th, Carson Davis ended 52nd, William Hawbaker was 62nd and Michael Grile placed 63rd.
