FORT WAYNE — The Rockets won Friday to continue their tournament hopes.
They bowed out two days later after a delay.
The Portland Rockets got a 6-1 victory Friday against the Fort Wayne Blues to get out of pool play, but fell to the Fort Wayne Jackers by the same score Sunday in crossover play of the Red Carrington League/Indiana Collegiate Summer Baseball League tournament at Carrington Field.
Portland, which drops to 10-13, scored a run in the first inning Friday against the Blues in the final game of pool play. It then tacked on three more in the third inning thanks to an RBI from Justin Greene and a two-run double by Luke Barnes.
Carson White knocked in two runs in the fifth inning as Portland scored six straight times to start the game. The Blues didn’t hit the scoreboard until the sixth inning.
Kasey Henderson got the win, scattering four hits over six innings, allowing one run with six strikeouts and three walks.
On Sunday, Fort Wayne returned the favor, scoring six consecutive runs, including a pair in each of the third and fifth frames.
Portland’s only run came during the fourth inning on an RBI from Pavel Strain.
The Rockets will conclude its season this weekend in a tournament at Kokomo. They are in one of two three-team groups with the Mishawaka Brewers and Chicago Clout.
Portland, which is in Group 2, meets the Brewers at 8:30 p.m. Friday, and plays the Clout at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Group 1 includes the Fort Wayne Jackers, Mid-Crest Pumas and South Bend Royals.
The placement round is Sunday, and the schedule is as follows:
•10 a.m. — Fifth-place game between third-place team in each group
•12:30 p.m. — Semi-final game one — Group 2 runner-up vs. Group 1 winner
•3 p.m. — Semifinal game two — Group 1 runner-up vs. Group 2 winner
•5:30 p.m. — Championship — winner of each semifinal game
