Mask situation was disappointing

Mask situation was disappointing

To the editor:

Last night, my husband and I attended the first of what we were hoping was going to be many sporting events at Jay County High School after many months of not being able to because of the coronavirus.

I will have to say I was extremely disappointed in the mask situation, or lack there of, as well as the lack of social distancing among the students as well as some of the adult spectators.

My husband and I, as well as others, wore our masks in properly and we did not remove them until we were in a position of being socially distant. When we did get up, we also placed our masks back on.

It isn't hard, and we do it because we want to be able to see these athletes and students thrive and be able to continue on.

It made me sad because in all honesty it won't be long before Jay County sports succumbs to the coronavirus that many other schools are experiencing.

I really thought they would utilize the knowledge base of what is being put out to help with a plan of action so that it did not happen to our school.

If the leadership — and there were many in attendance — cannot step up and enforce, then what is the use?

Patriot pride,

Misty Clark
