Jacquelyn Ann Grady, age 85, of Portland passed away Sunday, Aug. 23, 2020, at IU Health Jay following a sudden illness.
She was born in Madison Township, Jay County, on Sept. 9, 1934, the daughter of Victor and Mary Esther (Degler) Jetter. She was married on Sept. 1, 1965, to Max Grady, who passed away on Oct. 11, 2019. She was retired from Jay Garment and ran Best Wishes in Portland for seven years.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Jay County Hospital Auxiliary, Pregnancy Care Center and Delta Theta Tau. She was a graduate of Madison Township High School and took nurses training at Methodist Hospital for two years.
Surviving are two daughters, Peggy Lu Smiley of Portland and Marcia Lea Snow (husband: Brayton) of Fort Wayne; one sister, Alice L. Smiley of Union City, Indiana; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Aug. 27, at 11 a.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Fr. Peter Logsdon presiding. Burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m.
Memorials can be made to the Pregnancy Care Center of Portland.
The family requests the use of masks and social distancing during the funeral and visitation.
