To the editor:
There is so much fun and joy every year to watch all the blow-ups go up on Glassford Avenue and Lafayette Avenue in Portland.
What an honor to drive down both streets to see all the blow-ups. Parents drive and walk their children around the block and see tons of blow-ups at Christmas time.
Unless you know the individuals, you may not know that dad and daughter try every year to outdo each other. They have a Merry Christmas blowing up and decorating. And don’t forget the expense. Each year they add new ones.
They have both been featured in The Commercial Review.
Then, the heart-crushing moment comes when someone comes and steals — I mean literally steals — the joy from your heart. In two nights, the little penguin, the black-and-white dog, the swan boat and the plane — they were probably worth more than I could say — were stolen.
This is not the first time the blow-ups have been stolen or destroyed.
Please keep your eyes open.
And have a merry Christmas.
