Obituary
Joyce Ann Lightner-Wells, a resident of Dunkirk, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Dunkirk.
Joyce was born in Dunkirk, the daughter of James and Agnes (Whitesell) Burnette. She graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1956 and worked for Armstrong Glass in Dunkirk for many years. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Dunkirk.
Joyce married William R. Lightner in 1957 and he passed away in 1962. She later married Henry Dale Wells in 1968 and he passed away in 2004.
Survivors include:
One son — Bill Lightner, Muncie, Indiana
Daughter-in-law — Jennifer Anderson, Muncie, Indiana
Brother-in-law — Orville Thrash, Florida
Six grandchildren: Sarah, Caleb, Evan, Ethan, Shay and Lindsey
Two great-grandchildren
Several nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by four sons, Mike Wells, Steve Wells, Mark Lightner and Jeff Lightner.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Services to celebrate Joyce’s life will follow at 1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Pastor Glenn Greiner will officiate the service and burial will follow in Dunkirk IOOF Cemetery in Dunkirk.
