Obituaries

Charles Denney Sr., 68, a resident of Portland, passed away Monday at his home.

Charles was born Sept. 11, 1952, in Portland, the son of Robert C. and Betty (Runion) Denney. Charles worked for Champion in Ridgeville, Fleetwood in Decatur and John Graber Construction. Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Charles married Deborah Lothridge on January 12, 1973.

His loving wife — Deborah Denney, Portland

One son — Charles “Chuck” Denney Jr. (wife: Melissa), Portland

Three daughters — Margie Addington (husband: Chris), Union City, Cheryl Ruiz (husband: Bobby), Portland, and Barbara Cook (husband: Dan Cook), New Castle

One brother — Donald Denney (wife: Mary), Milton, Florida

One sister — Mary Byers, Ashland, Ohio

Fourteen grandchildren — Shelby Martinez (husband: Marvin), Heaven Addington, Ericka Somers, Scott Somers, Allison Ruiz, Haley Addington, Kailee Denney (fiance: John Osterholt), Kaitlyn Ruiz, Pacie Denney, Ian Ruiz, Chloe Ruiz and Addison Denney.

Three great-grandchildren — Lennox, Wyatt and Zion

Father-in-law — Harold Gallets

Special friends — Mona Fairfield, Troy, Peggy and Kurtis Atkinson, and Jeff and Terry Burk

Several sister and brother in-laws

Several nieces and nephews

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Father Bob Moran will officiate the service and burial will be held in Antioch Cemetery south of Portland.

Memorials may be directed to the family to assist other families in need.
