Kathy Sipe

Obituaries

Kathy J. Sipe, 65, North Manchester, Indiana, passed away on Nov. 27, 2020, at Parkview Wabash Hospital, Wabash, Indiana.

The only daughter of Colwell C. “Jiggs” and Nilah M. (May) Coldren Jr., Kathy was born on Sept. 23, 1955, in Portland, Indiana.

Three years after graduating from Portland High School in the class of 1973, Kathy married Burton R. “Burt” Sipe on April 17, 1976. The two were wed for 44 years and had two daughters, Andrea and Jenny Sipe.

For over 18 years, Kathy worked for Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, Indiana, as a scheduler, receptionist and office manager before she retired in June of 2019.

Kathy was a compassionate person who helped those in need. She supported children who had a rough life and made sure they had a place to live. She was supportive of everyone, especially her family. Kathy spent countless days and nights attending her grandchildren’s events and watching her sons-in-law coach baseball and football. Family was her inspiration in life, and it brought her such joy to see each one of her family members become successful. Kathy did not like to receive things; instead, she loved to give, especially at her favorite holiday, Christmas. As a member of Tri-Kappa, North Manchester, Indiana, she was able to help those most in need. Kathy was also a member of the United Methodist Church in various places she lived.

The loving memory of Kathy J. Sipe will be forever cherished by her husband, Burt Sipe, North Manchester; daughters Andrea (Rick) Espeset and Jenny (Brandon) Baker, both of North Manchester; brothers John (Diane) Coldren, Portland, Indiana, and Steve (Jaye) Coldren, Boca Raton, Florida; grandchildren Addi Baker, Ethan Espeset, McKelvey Espeset, Elli Baker, Briggs Baker and Finley Espeset; and countless people she has helped over the years.

Visitation was Dec. 1 at McKee Mortuary in North Manchester. Funeral services were Dec. 2 with Pastor Jim McDonald officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.

For those who wish to honor the memory of Kathy J. Sipe, memorial contributions may be made to Manchester High School Athletic Department, 1 Squire Drive, North Manchester, IN 46962, or Northfield High School Athletic Department, 154 W. 200 North, Wabash, IN 46992.
