To the editor:
Things I miss this Christmas:
1. Miss my dear wife Vicki Lynn.
2. Miss the Christmas Eve service at Asbury United Methodist Church.
3. Miss the choir and congregation singing the Hallelujah Chorus.
4. Miss the way Vicki could decorate the house inside and out. No one could do it like her.
5. Miss the wonderful Christmas dinner she would fix for her family and mine — 20 to 30 people with brothers, sister, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws.
6. Miss the annual Christmas party for Asbury staff. Personnel Pastor Taggart or maybe Pauline would always try to separate Mary Harrod and me at the table. Maybe they thought we talked too much. Somehow Mary and I always found a way to get together
7. Miss the Portland Rotary Club Christmas party at Arts Place. It is always so very festive and has good fellowship, along with nice musical entertainment.
8. Miss the Koffee Klatsch by The Commercial Review at Arts Place.
9. Miss going to the high school for the Christmas program. It was always good.
10. Miss going to various Christmas parties in various places.
11. Miss gathering with friends for a little Christmas cheer.
12. Miss the annual Jay County Chamber of Commerce Christmas party for staff.
13. Miss the hospital annual Christmas lighting and music program.
14. Just plain miss so much about this religious and festive time of the year with simple things as sights, sounds, smells, food, atmosphere, laughter, joyous feelings and anticipation of better things to come.
These are a few of the favorite things I miss.
