Pauline Carpenter

Pauline M. (Arnold) Carpenter, age 97, a resident of Portland, passed away Friday, Dec. 18, 2020, at Persimmon Ridge Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of the Portland Moose and Eagles lodges and the Portland American Legion Auxiliary. She retired in 1976 from Corning Glass in Bluffton after 20 years.

Pauline Carpenter was born Sept. 15, 1923, in Decatur, Indiana, the daughter of Clarence and Hazel (Harden) Myers. She was first married to Bob Arnold. She then married Jack Carpenter on June 15, 1996, and he passed away Jan. 29, 2006.

Survivors include:

One son — Larry Arnold, (companion: Sharon Kemp) Hartford City

Two daughters — Bobbie Wells (husband: Jim), Corunna, Indiana, and Debra Kauffman (companion: Mike Miller), Fort Wayne

Two stepsons — Rex and Jon Carpenter, Portland

Two stepdaughters — Pennee Carpenter, Portland, and Tammy Kletinger (husband: Vance), Greenville, Ohio

Four brothers — James Myers (wife: Mary), Pennville, Robert Myers (wife: Karen), Redkey, Ronald Myers (wife: Cheryl), Montpelier, and Donald Myers (wife: Marilyn), Geneva

Two sisters — Florence Ludy, Florida, and Rosella Baumen (husband: Glen), Bryant

Seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Gil Alicia will officiate the services and burial will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery, west of Bryant.
