Obituary
Dickie D. Haffner, age 83, passed away Friday, Dec. 18, 2020, at St. Vincent Hospital in Winchester.
He was born in Portland on Dec. 6, 1937, the son of Dale and Vera (Bergman) Haffner. He was married on March 23, 1957, to Jacqueline Sue Carty and she passed away on April 14, 2017.
Dickie was a farmer and also had worked for Wells Fargo and as a crop insurance adjuster. He was a member of Portland Morning Optimist Club, Gold Wing Club, Jay Lodge #87 F&AM, Scottish Rite and Shrine. He was a 1957 Bryant High School graduate and attended Bryant Wesleyan Church.
Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey Haffner of Portland and Michael Haffner of Ridgeville; two daughters, Kathleen Haffner of Muncie and Brenda Reitz of Greenville, Ohio; one brother, Richard Haffner of Bryant; two sisters, Norma Cash of Pennville and Janice Bauman of North Webster; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020, at 10 a.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Paul VanCise presiding. Burial will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. and prior to the services on Wednesday.
Memorials can be made to the Bryant Community Center.
