The Indians won two games, including one against a ranked opponent.
But a loss dropped them out of the poll voting.
Fort Recovery High School’s girls basketball team, which was 13th in the Division IV voting last week, did not appear in the new poll released Tuesday.
The Indians (14-4) got off to a slow start last week, falling 56-43 to Franklin Monroe. They bounced back with victories over then-No. 4 Marion Local (16-3) and Lima Central Catholic.
Marion Local dropped to No. 8 in this week’s Division IV poll. Minster (15-4), which FRHS also defeated earlier this season, came in at No. 5
Fort Loramie continues to lead the poll with a 19-0 record. It sits ahead of Toledo Christian, also undefeated, Berne Union and Notre Dame.
Fort Recovery will play next Thursday when it visits St. Henry.
Rematch set
YORKTOWN — The Jay County High School girls basketball team will play the Winchester Golden Falcons in the semifinal round of the Class 3A Sectional 24 tournament at 6 p.m. Friday.
Winchester (21-3), which was 11th in the final Class 3A Associated Press poll voting of the season, earned its spot in the semifinal round by blowing out New Castle 80-41 Tuesday. Other first-round games in the tournament pit Delta (4-16) against Muncie Burris (5-15) and the host Tigers (17-6) against Hamilton Heights (14-10) tonight.
The Golden Falcons outscored New Castle by a combined 45-15 in the second and third periods Tuesday.
JCHS lost its regular-season matchup against Winchester 72-51 on Nov. 23.
EJ 8th stays hot
East Jay Middle School’s eighth grade girls basketball team followed up its Allen County Athletic Conference Tournament on Saturday with another win, 36-24, Tuesday over Muncie Southside.
The seventh graders also won, 23-10.
Sophie Saxman and Bralee VanSkyock set the pace for the Chief eighth graders with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Molly Muhlenkamp was next on the list with six points.
Meredith Dirksen’s nine points were the team high for the seventh grade squad. Cassie Petro, Natalie Carreno and Daisy Muhlenkamp chipped in four points apiece.
