Jacks earns all-state nod

Cooper Jacks had his wrestling season end Saturday. He picked up an accolade Wednesday.

Jacks, a Jay County High School senior, was named first team Senior Academic All State by the Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association.

Garrett Mann and Braden McIntire were given Senior Academic All State honorable mention.

Maddy Rinker was honorable mention Junior Academic All State.



Three stay perfect

MUNCIE — Three East Jay Middle School wrestlers remained undefeated in helping the Chiefs to a 51-36 victory over the host Delta Eagles on Tuesday.

Tony Wood (110 pounds) and AJ Myers (150) won by a 2-0 and 2-1 decisions, respectively, to improve to 18-0 on the season. Cameron Clark (140) won 4-3 to move to 10-0. Cody Rowles (102) got a pin in 2:02 to push his record to 17-1.

Other Chiefs winning were Silas Wenk, Landon Garringer, Griffin Byrum, Tristan Stout, Layne Reidt, Bryce Wenk, Conner Specht and Ricky Nava.

Sean Bailey, Alan Ortiz and Malachi Shaw each got wins in junior varsity matches.
