Votes to convict were hate-filled

Letter to the editor

To the editor:

Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020, was a sad and disgraceful day for the U.S. Congress and the Democrat party.

One hundred senators swore an oath to make a fair and impartial examination of the evidence in the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump. With no real evidence that was not exculpatory, 47 Democrats and one Republican voted on Article 1 to convict on a partisan, hate-filled and fact-free basis.

On Article 2, it was repeatedly shown that Sen. Adam Schiff's subpoenas were invalid because they all were issued before the House voted him subpoena power. This fact was uncontested. But in an act of hate-fueled infamy, 47 Democrats voted to remove Trump from office for failure to comply with invalid, illegal, illegitimate subpoenas.

The only threat to the Constitution was the partisan, hate-filled, attempt by 47 Democrats and one bitter Republican to overturn the votes of 63 million Americans.
