Donald Reef

Donald L. Reef, 89, of Geneva, formerly of New Corydon, passed away at 9 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 21, 2020, at Swiss Village in Berne, Indiana.

He was born on Saturday, Oct. 4, 1930, in Flint, Michigan. He married Margaret A. (Weaver) Reef on Friday, Oct. 20, 1950, in New Corydon, Indiana.

Donald attended Jefferson Township High School. He was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bryant.

Donald served his country in the United States Army.

Mr. Reef was a member of the New Corydon-Bryant Senior Citizens Club. He worked as a state building inspector for 14 years, serving nine counties. He worked at All American Homes in Decatur. Mr. Reef served as Wabash Township Trustee in Jay County and also was the caretaker of Daugherty Cemetery for 40 years. 

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Margaret A. (Weaver) Reef, Geneva, Indiana; daughters Beth A. (Robert) Martin, Decatur, Indiana, and Carol L. (Randy) Elzey, Geneva, Indiana; two granddaughters, Lora L. Brooks, Michigan City, Indiana, and Lisa A. Martin, Decatur, Indiana; step-grandson, Jason Elzey, Bluffton, Indiana; two step-grandchildren; and brother James (Jean) Reef, Ossian, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his father S. Daniel Reef; mother Mabel (Davidson) Reef; and brother William Reef.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St., Geneva, from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, 2020, and 10 to 11 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bryant on Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020.

A service to celebrate his life will be at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Martin Bornhoeft and Pastor Robert Abner officiating.
