Three former Patriots, decorated at Jay County High School as swimmers, are now in the Cardinal record books.
Cousins Anne Vormohr and Sophie Bader, 2016 JCHS graduates, and 2018 graduate Alex Bader helped a pair of Ball State University relay teams swim top-10 times in program history Wednesday on the opening day of the Mid-American Conference Championships in Buffalo, New York.
Sophie Bader and Vormohr joined Apsara Sakbun and Katie Walker to finish the 800-yard freestyle relay in 7 minutes, 31.36 seconds, which was the fifth-best time in school history and good enough for seventh place Wednesday.
Alex Bader, Audrey Schank, Shelby Crist and Sakbun had a time of 1:42.37 in the 200-yard medley relay. It was the sixth-fastest time in Cardinal history and placed the quartet seventh.
The meet continues today through Saturday at State University of New York at Buffalo.

Had a pair of top-15 finishes for the Fordham University men’s track team as it competed in the Armory College Last Chance meet on Friday.
The freshman ran to a time of 22.75 seconds in the 200-meter dash to take 13th, and was 14th in the 60 dash with is time of 7.16 seconds.
Jovanni Parkinson of Elitefeats had a time of 21.64 seconds for first in the 200 dash, and Jeremy Bascom of Shore AC won the 60 dash in 6.74 seconds.

Came off the bench to score four points for the University of Saint Francis women’s basketball team Saturday in a 72-58 win against Spring Arbor.
Will was 1-of-3 from the field and made both of her free-throw attempts. She also had one block in the final regular season game for the NAIA No. 11 Cougars (23-7), who lost to Huntington in the quarterfinal round of the Crossroads League tournament on Tuesday.

Threw two-thirds of an inning of relief for the University of Cincinnati baseball team on Friday in an 11-4 loss to the Florida State Seminoles.
The freshman right-hander entered in the bottom of the eighth inning with the Bearcats (0-4) trailing 8-4.
He allowed three earned runs on two doubles and a single, walked two, plunked one batter and struck out one on 32 pitches in his second career appearance for UC.

Had two sixth-place finishes for the Manchester University women’s track team Saturday at the Heartland Conference Athletic Conference championships at Rose-Hulman.
She had a distance of 30 feet, 3 inches, in the triple jump, and a height of 4 feet, 10.25 inches, in the high jump, to take sixth in both events.
Garringer was also 14th in the long jump at 13 feet, 5 inches. The freshman also helped the 4x200-yard relay team place eighth in 1 minute, 56.2 seconds.

Placed 10th for the University of Saint Francis women’s track team Saturday in the Hillsdale “Tune Up” at Hilldale’s Margo V. Biermann Athletic Complex.
The freshman had a time of 6 minutes, 10.24 seconds, to place 10th in the mile run.
Addison Rauch of host Hillsdale won the race in 5:22.82.

Competed for the Wabash College track team Saturday in the Steemer Showcase at Wittenberg University.
Brumfield had a distance of 10.66 meters in the weight throw, which put him in 33rd place out of 43 competitors.
Ryan Smith, an unattached competitor, set a facility record with his winning distance of 16.66 meters.
