Gabe Bailey, who won the second season of the Jay County Chamber of Commerce’s Stars in the Park, has racked up another win.
Bailey, now a senior at South Adams High School, won the title of “Champion of Champions” at Saturday’s Ohio Has Talent competition in Van Wert.
He had won the title in 2017 and competed with seven other Ohio champions for the win.
Bailey performed "Eruption" by Van Halen, "Pride and Joy" by Stevie Ray Vaughn and "New York State of Mind" by Billy Joel.
He received $1,500 in prize money.
Bailey also recently released an album on his own called "Me ll-amo, Gabe Bailey,” performing all of the instrumentals and vocals himself.
It’s available via streaming services.
Ohio Has Talent is an annual fundraiser for the Community Health Professionals's Hospice Patient Care Fund. Winners were determined by audience votes.
Movie night
Evangelical Methodist Church, 930 W. Main St., Portland, will host a community movie night tonight at 7 p.m. with a showing of “All Saints.” Refreshments will be served.
Author visit
Axton Betz-Hamilton will be the featured speaker at a book signing sponsored by Jay County Public Library to be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, at Arts Place in Portland.
A Jay County native, she is the author of “The Less People Know About Us.”
Arrange flowers
The public is invited to register for an evening of floral arranging at the Fort Recovery Public Library on Tuesday, March 10, at 6:30 p.m. Participants will be able to create their own fresh hydrangea and rose centerpiece under the guidance of professional florists.
Cost of the event is $25 per person ($20 for Friends of the Library members) and pre-registration is required.

The Harmony Players, a theatre troupe based in Jay County, will present “Charley’s Aunt” in collaboration with Arts Place on March 19 through 21.
