FINDLAY, Ohio — The Indians managed just two fourth-quarter points as their lead slipped away.
It didn’t faze them.
Fort Recovery High School’s girls basketball team got back on track in overtime to knock off the host Liberty-Benton Eagles 44-39 Saturday afternoon.
The Indians (8-2), who have won six straight since their 45-40 Dec. 7 loss at Jay County, led by seven at the half and four heading into the final period before Liberty-Benton rallied for the tie. Val Muhlenkamp, who did not score in the third and fourth quarters, tallied six points in overtime to lead the win.
Muhlenkamp hit three first-half 3-pointers in her 17-point effort. Alli Vaughn had nine points, and Brooke Kahlig finished with eight.
Caitlin Elseser’s 17 points were the team-high for Liberty-Benton (8-2). Sydney Elseser added 12 points.
Indians place 2nd
BERNE — Fort Recovery’s girls swim team finished second with 274 points at Saturday’s South Adams Invitational. New Bremen won with 407 points, and the host Starfires were third in the eight-team event with 153.
The Tribe boys finished seventh.
Ava Bubp earned the lone victory for the Indians, winning the 200-yard individual medley by more than nine seconds in 2 minutes, 28.31 seconds, over Maggie Nussbaum of South Adams. She was also the runner-up in the 100 freestyle.
Autumn Burk added a second-place finish in the 100 butterfly, and Shelby Stammen was third in both the 200 IM and 500 freestyle.
The FRHS girls were also second in both freestyle relays. The boys team took fourth in the 200 medley relay.
FR tops Lancers
FORT RECOVERY — The Fort Recovery boys basketball team bounced back from a Midwest Athletic Conference loss to top the visiting Lincolnview Lancers 59-55 Saturday.
The Indians (7-2), who lost by two Friday at Minster, poured in 24 first-quarter points to take control quickly.

Their lead slipped to one at the half and they trailed by one heading into the final quarter before they fought back behind seven fourth-quarter points from Gavin Thobe.
Brian Bihn scored five of his game-high 20 points for the Tribe in the final period. Thobe followed with 12 points, and Regan Martin and Clay Schmitz each had eight.
Owen Jutte’s 22 points led the FRHS junior varsity team to a 49-29 win.
Patriots place 10th
FORT WAYNE — Jay County’s wrestling team made its first appearance in the Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association Team State Duals, finishing 10th out of 12 teams in Class 2A with a 1-3 record.
The Patriots suffered losses to Oak Hill (51-25) and Columbia City (56-14) in pool competition. They then knocked off North Montgomery 44-30 before falling 42-35 to West Vigo in the ninth-place match.
Bellmont won the Class 2A title with a 33-29 victory over Garrett. Other champions were Cathedral in Class 3A and North Posey in Class 1A.
Mason Winner (182), who is ranked third in the state, and Ethan Reiley (113) finished 4-0 to lead Jay County.
