DELPHOS, Ohio — Through their six-game winning streak, the Indians scored at least 43 points in every game.
On Thursday, it barely took half that many to get the job done.
The Division IV No. 10 Fort Recovery High School girls basketball team scored six or fewer points in each of the three quarters, but it was enough for a 23-20 victory over the host St. John’s Blue Jays.
The Indians (7-2), whose last loss was Dec. 5 at Jay County, jumped out to a 10-4 lead in the opening quarter. They managed just two points in the second quarter, five in the third and six in the fourth, as they won the defensive struggle.
Val Muhlenkamp’s eight points were the team high for FRHS. Kierra Wendel added six points.
The junior varsity Indians won 31-21 behind 11 points from Eleana Evers and 10 from Grace Guggenbiller.

Lizzie Dollar of the Patriots is the third-ranked wrestling at 98 pounds in the inaugural rankings that were released Thursday by IndianaMat.com. The sophomore trails Evansville Central senior Desstiny Garris and Purdue Polytechnic’s Adriana Sanchez.
Jay County’s Lita Chowning is ranked eighth at 120 pounds.
Dollar and Chowning join Mason Winner, who has been third at 182 pounds all season in the boys rankings. The three-time state medalist, who finished fifth at 182 pounds last year, trails top-ranked Joseph Walker of Mishawaka and No. 2 Aiden Warren of Perry Meridian.
