Take a tour of the winter sky at the Charles W. Brown Planetarium.
The free star show, suitable for all ages 8 and up, will be presented at 6:30 p.m. on Fridays, Jan. 31 and Feb. 7, and at both 6:30 and 8 p.m. on Saturdays, Feb. 1 and 8.
The tour includes a trip to the North Pole to experience the Northern Lights.
Concert tonight
Alessandro Riccardi will perform at Arts Place at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Riccardi was selected as one of the best graduating conservatory pianists in Italy in 2014.
He studied with Dr. Robert Palmer at Ball State University to pursue his artist’s diploma in piano performance.
He serves as a piano assistant at Ball State University and taught piano classes at the University of Yucatán in Merida (Mexico), the Conservatories of Livorno and Bolzano, the Ritmi Music School in Cecina and the Vivaldi Music School in Bolzano.
The recital will be in Hall-Moser Theatre at the Portland Center of Arts Place at 131 E. Walnut Street.
New exhibit
A new exhibit is on display at the Blackford County Center of Arts Place in Hartford City.
“New Perspectives: Ball State Painting 2019” is comprised of Ball State University student work primarily from the fall 2019 semester. Beginner work in watercolor and oil as well as more experienced work in oil, encaustic and acrylic is featured. The exhibit will be on display through Feb. 27.
A reception for “New Perspectives: Ball State Painting 2019” will be held on Sunday, Jan. 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the art center.
Exhibits at Arts Place are always free to view.
The Blackford County center of Arts Place is located at 107 W. Washington St., Hartford City.
Regular center hours are: Monday through Thursday 3 to 7 p.m.
Author visit
Dayton area author Jess Montgomery will be visiting the Fort Recovery Library today at 6 p.m.
She’ll be discussing her 2019 book “The Widows,” which is being released this month.

Minnetrista’s newest exhibit — Animationland — opens on Jan. 25.
Developed and produced by the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, Animationland offers a fully immersive, interactive exhibit where guests learn to incorporate animation skills into the creation process.
