There will be an afternoon showing of two movies based on Gene Stratton-Porter’s books, “Laddie” (1940) and “A Girl of the Limberlost“ (1934), from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Limberlost Visitor Center, 202 E. Sixth St., Geneva.
The price is $6 for adult members of the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites, $3 for youth members, $7 for adult non-members and $4 for youth non-members.
An intermission will occur between the movies, and refreshments are included in the ticket price. Pre-registration is required to guarantee a seat. Register by phoning (260) 368-7428 or emailing [email protected].

This Friday is Fun Night at Evangelical Methodist Church, 930 W. Main St., Portland.
There will be crafts, refreshments and a sing-along. For more information, phone (260) 251-0970.
Team competes
The Jay County High School academic team competed this week in its first 5-way meet of the season.
The English team — Mary Hartman, Joscelyn Nelson, Liz Stewart, and Ava Stockton — finished in first place. Ava Stockton earned an individual first place ribbon, Jocelyn Nelson earned an individual second place ribbon, and Mary Hartman earned a third place ribbon.
The English coach is Anni McClung.
The fine arts team — Ethan Andreshak, Mary Hartman, Liz Stewart and Sydnie Zorn — earned a third place finish. Sydnie Zorn earned a third place individual ribbon, The fine arts coach is Liz Lawson.
The math team — Isaac Braun, Jackson Lyons, Chema Pradigta, and Ashlynn Neukam — finished in third place. Isaac Braun and Chema Pradigta each won an individual third place ribbon.
The math coach is Zach Keller.
The social studies team — Alex Ardizzone, Leanna Miller, Jocelyn Nelson, and Sydnie Zorn — finished in third place. The social studies coach is Brittany Martyne.
The science team — Ethan Andreshak, Isaac Braun, Juste Griskonyte, and Lucas Lyon — finished in third place. Ethan Andreshak, Isaac Braun and Juste Griskonyte each won an individual third place ribbon. The science team coach is Connie Aker.
Competing for the Interdisciplinary team, Isaac Braun, Juste Griskonyte, Jocelyn Nelson and Sydnie Zorn finished in third place.
The team’s next meet will be an Eastern Indiana Academic League’s 5-way meet at Wapahani High School Feb. 5.
