Bettie Kelly

Bettie Kelly, a former Portland resident, passed away on Jan. 28, 2020, at the age of 91.

She was born on Feb. 27, 1928, to Donald Farris and Dollie (Nichols) Farris of Portland. She graduated from Portland High School in May 1946 and married her high school sweetheart, Dick Oliver Kelly, who passed away on Jan. 16, 2017. They were married for 71 years.

Surviving are her two daughters, Linda S. (Kelly) Ford of Greenfield, Indiana, and Kellie S. Kelly of Fishers, Indiana, and their spouses, respectively, Darrell V. Ford and Anthony S. Tai. Bettie had four grandchildren, Gary Ford, Andrew Ford, Julia Sample and Kaelyn Tai. Also there are seven great-grandchildren, Jakob Ford, Marcus Ford, Alyssa Ford, Wesley Ford, Jackson Sample, Madison Sample and Franklin Ford. Also a special mention to Louis and Susan Griffith of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and their children Abby, Andrew and Ashley.

Funeral services will be held at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, 221 N. Meridian St., Portland, Indiana, on Friday, Jan. 31, 2020, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Gil Alicea presiding. Burial will follow in the Wells Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
