Three Jay County teams advanced to the championship of the Allen County Athletic Conference middle school basketball tournament.
East Jay Middle School’s seventh grade girls posted the biggest victory Wednesday, defeating Woodlan 30-18. The EJMS eighth grade girls also beat Woodlan, 30-22, and the West Jay eighth grade boys topped Adams Central 42-32.
Cassie Petro paced the victory for the EJMS seventh grade girls with a dozen points. Natalie Carreno followed with eight points, and Molly Muhlenkamp scored six.
Bralee VanSkyock and Sophie Saxman each totaled eight points for the Chief eighth graders. Breanna Dirksen was next with six points.
Trevin Dunnington’s 12 points were the team high for the WJMS eighth grade boys (10-5). Liam Garringer added nine points.
East Jay’s girls teams will both play in championship games Saturday at Southern Wells, with the eighth graders taking on South Adams at 10 a.m. and the seventh graders battling Bluffton at 11 a.m. Details on the WJMS championship game were not available.
