Ivo J. Braun, age 85, of Portland, Indiana, passed away on July 11, 2020, at Briarwood Village, Coldwater, Ohio.
He was born Jan. 21, 1935, in St. Peter, Ohio, to the late Stephen and Rosella (Minnich) Braun. On Nov. 5, 1960, he married the late Eloise (Barhorst) Braun, who died Sept. 27, 1997.
Surviving are his children, Tom (Lisa) Braun of Fort Recovery, Connie (Gerald) Kohn of Coldwater and Fred Braun of Portland; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings LaDonna (Carl) VanDenBosch of Coldwater, Rita Heyne of Dayton, Ohio, and Carl (Judie) Braun of Celina, Ohio; daughter-in-law Pat (Brian) Link of Portland; special friend Julie Spoltman of Coldwater; sister-in-law Viola Braun of Coldwater; brother-in-law Don Dues of Celina; in-laws Chris Barhorst of Russia, Ohio, Doris Bruggeman of St. Henry, Ohio, Dolores Bruggeman of St. Henry, Joseph (Wilma) Barhorst of Coldwater, Ralph Meyer of St. Henry and Martha (Richard) Subler of New Bremen, Ohio.
Also preceding him in death were sons Steven and Ronald Braun; one great-grandchild; siblings Esther (Otis) Marchal, Linda Dues, Linus (Virginia) Braun, Marcene (Louis) Burris and Virgil “Shorty” Braun; sister-in-law Jean Braun; in-laws Clarissa Brinkman, Charlene (Lavern) Schmit, Herb Barhorst, Virgil Bruggeman, Werner Bruggeman, Clarence (Shirley) Barhorst, Marilyn Meyer, Emily (Jack) Subler and Margie (Edward) Rethman.
Ivo served his county in the U.S. Army and was employed at the former New Idea, Coldwater.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Bryant, Indiana, and its men’s society. Ivo was also a member of the American Legion Post 345, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6515 and Progressive Sportsman Club, all of Fort Recovery, and Fraternal Order Eagles, Coldwater. He enjoyed beekeeping through the years and the company of family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Bryant, Indiana, with his grandson Fr. Jarred Kohn as celebrant. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Graveside military honors will be conducted by the American Legion.
Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and 9 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at Brockman – Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery.
