Dorothy M. Wellman, 96, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away at 3:20 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2020, at Saint Anne Home & Retirement Community in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She was born on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 1923, in Huntington, Indiana. She married Alfred Wellman on Saturday, Oct. 14, 1950, in Huntington, Indiana; he preceded her in death in 2001.
Dorothy was a graduate of St. Peter & Paul High School in Huntington. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in rural Bryant.
Mrs. Wellman was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and dancing.
Loving survivors include her daughter, Carolyn (Andrew) Nickel, Fort Wayne, Indiana; son, Larry (Linda) Wellman, Fort Wayne, Indiana; daughter, Phyllis Stuerzenberger, Fort Wayne, Indiana; son, Greg (Kathy) Wellman, Bryant, Indiana; daughter, Marilyn (Tom) Koeneman, Fort Wayne, Indiana; son, Gary (Nancy) Wellman, New Haven, Indiana; sister, Pauline Blocker, Huntington, Indiana; brother, Don (Kay) Keefer, Fort Wayne, Indiana; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Keefer; mother, Mary (Scher) Keefer; husband, Alfred Wellman; brother, Bill Keefer; and sister, Martha Keefer.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St., Geneva, on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, from 3:30 to 8:30 p.m. and from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at Downing – Glancy Funeral Home on Thursday, July 16, 2020. A rosary/prayer service will be at 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
A mass to celebrate her life will be at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2020, with Father Peter Logsdon officiating. Interment will follow in the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Bryant.
Memorials may be made to the Holy Trinity Catholic Church or to Saint Anne Home & Retirement Community.
Arrangements are being handled by Downing & Glancy Funeral Home in Geneva.
