An area employer has opened a new recruiting center.
Cooper Farms announced this week that it has opened a recruiting and training center at 395. N. Eastern Ave., St. Henry, Ohio.
The company will use the site for interviews, orientation events and training sessions. A kickoff event was held Wednesday.
“We’re always striving to improve our team member experience at Cooper Farms,” said Cooper Farms director of human resources and safety Jack Staugler. “That experience starts even before they become Cooper Farms team members during the recruitment and interview process.”
Condos planned
CrownPointe Communities of Portland plans to add new condominiums.
The new construction will be built to the north of the current CrownPointe assisted living facility on the north side of Votaw Street between IU Health Jay and Walmart. The 1,760-square-foot homes will feature a covered patio and two-car garage.
The planned residential community, which will include a pond, is geared toward adults 55 and older.
Giving away
The Cellular Connection will hold its annual School Rocks Backpack Giveaway from 1 to 4 p.m. July 26.
TCC locations, including the site at 922 N. Meridian St., Portland, will invite families to pick up backpacks filled with pencils, paper, folders, glue and other school supplies. There is a limit of one backpack per child, though children do not have to be present.
Social distancing guidelines will be followed.
Market opens
Berne’s das Marit Farmers and Artists Market opened July 4.
Like the farmers market in Portland, opening of the Saturday attraction at the intersection of U.S. 27 and Indiana 218 in Berne was delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Berne Witness reported. The market is open from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
