Permits clear $1.3 million
Building permits
Permits issued by the Jay/Portland Building and Planning Office in May totaled $1.37 million in new construction.
The largest of the new construction projects in the county was a new $650,000 house being built by Justin and Devyn Moser on Boundary Pike in the area of county road 200 South.
Two other projects cleared the $100,000 mark. One was for a new home for Douglass R. and Landra S. Fraley of 8576 W. 600 South, Redkey. The other was a $170,000 swine confined feeding building by John ER and Emma J. Girod at 8847 N. 450 East, rural Bryant.
Other permits were issued to Mary Adair for a $54,350 roof mount solar array at 7168 S. 200 East, rural Portland; Stephen Fouch for a $50,000 pole building at 564 E. 650 South, rural Portland; Michael Whitacre for a $42,000 grain bin at 8919 E. Indiana 26, rural Portland; Fisher Packing for a $40,000 storage addition at 309 W. High St., Portland; Jerry E. Girod for a $40,000 new home at 8807 N. 350 East, rural Bryant; Nathan Springer for a $30,000 garage at 325 W. Lagro St., Pennville; Wal-Mart Real Estate Trust for an $11,900 entrance security gate at 950 W. Votaw St., Portland; and Brian Ison for an $11,000 porch roof at 1351 S. Meridian St., Portland.
Also, Brian Devoss for a $5,000 pole building at 6401 S. Como Road, rural Portland; Ron Alig for a $5,000 residential addition at 6322 E. 600 North, rural Bryant; Amber Fifer for a $6,000 porch roof at 2246 W. 600 South, rural Portland; Precious and Larry Nelson for a $2,000 front porch/deck at 213 Oak St., Portland; Brent Cline for a $750 strage building at 4707 W. U.S. 27, rural Portland; and Roger Sudhoff for a $4,000 pole barn at 1505 W. 650 South, rural Portland.
There were also five fence projects, three pool projects and three deck projects:
Fences — Andrew Zurcher, $1,000 at 228 S. Middle St., Portland; Darrell Mann, 130 E. Floral Ave., Portland, $3,000; Graham Haines, $600, 1220 S. Meridian St., Portland; Zachary Williams, $1,600, 620 N. Commerce St., Portland; and Dustin Habegger, $600, 1109 S. Meridian St., Portland.
Pools — Matt and Sarah Lingo, $1,000, 1428 S. 100 East, rural Portland; Christopher Daniels, $2,500, 604 E. Water St., Portland; and Michael Saint, $8,140, 227 E. Seventh St., Portland.
Decks — Lori Phillips, $1,500, 302 Meridian Heights, Portland; Tom Harmon, $1,000, 1003 W. Walnut St., Portland; Tim Manor, 185 W. Green Park Ave., Portland.
