Students in need of vaccines required for school will have multiple opportunities to get them next week.
Health Hero of Indiana will host immunization clinics for sixth through 12th graders during school registration sessions.
The clinics will be available from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 6 p.m. Monday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Jay County Junior/Senior High School.
Required forms were sent along with a “parent letter” that was emailed for all students. Those who still need forms can pick them up at the junior/senior high school.
Guest speaker
Pennville United Methodist Church will host Carman and Sasha Eaborn as guest speakers at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
The Eaborns will share their story of recovery from addiction and depression. The church is located at 190 W. Main St., Pennville.
On the list
Three local students have been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Manchester University.
Making the list were Kendal Garringer, Tyler Leonhard and Shayla Rigsbee, all of Portland. To qualify for the dean’s list, students had to earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
State honor
Tinley Davis, the granddaughter of Rose and Randy Davis of Redkey, was recently named state champion in the North Carolina FFA Creed Speaking and Leadership Development Event.
Participants in the contest recite the FFA Creed from memory and are judged on voice, stage presence, power of expression, accuracy, general effect and the ability to answer questions from the judges. Davis, who will be a sophomore this year, was also the North Carolina Middle School State Champion in FFA Prepared Public Speaking for 2018-19.
