Martha Butcher, age 87, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2020, at her residence.
She was born in Jay County on Dec. 29, 1932, the daughter of Earl and Fern (Scott) Noble. She was married in 1952 to Max E. Butcher and he died in 2007. She was a 1952 Portland High School graduate and a homemaker.
Surviving are eight children, Wanda K. Downs (husband: Roger) of Bryant, Judy Simon (husband: Tim) of Lansing, Michigan, Mark Butcher (wife: Jiao) of Pennville, Diane Simmons (husband: Alan (deceased)) of Portland, Patty Meinerding (husband: Jerry) of Bryant, Amy Crabtree (husband: Barry) of Bryant, Michael Butcher (wife: Debbie) of Bryant and Lori Theurer (husband: Reuben) of Portland; three brothers, Dale Noble and Harry Noble of Florida, and George Noble of Portland; two sisters Mary Baucher of Celina, Ohio, and Esther Sommers of Van Buren; 25 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren
Private family services will be held in Baird-Freeman Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Gravel Hill Cemetery.
