Deer hit
A Van Buren man was unable to avoid driving into a deer while eastbound on Indiana 18 near Indiana 1 at 6:52 a.m. Wednesday.
Jordan N. Surber, 29, was driving a 2019 Kia Optima. Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
Passenger injured
One passenger was treated for minor injuries at the scene after a Portland woman failed to see oncoming traffic while attempting to turn onto county road 450 South from Como Road at 10:33 a.m. Tuesday.
The accident sent both cars into ditches. Kendra R. Bickel, 21, failed to see oncoming traffic while attempting to turn left on the road.
Zachary M. Hill, 22, Redkey, was sent into a ditch as a result of the collision, which resulted in minor elbow injuries to Jonathon B. Smart, 23, who was riding in Hill’s 2007 Ford Mustang.
Bickel was driving a 2012 Ford Focus. Damage was estimated between $10,000 and $25,000.
Hits garage
A Redkey driver misjudged distance while backing about 5 p.m. Saturday and struck a garage along an alley in the 1000 block of West High Street in Portland.
Hunter L. Miller, 17, was backing a 1997 Dodge truck registered to Cole Brewer, Greenville, Ohio, when the accident occurred.
Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000. Miller left the scene at the time but told police he would contact the owners of the garage when they were home.
Backing mishap
A Portland woman backed her 2018 Toyota Corolla into a parked car on Race Street near Williams Street about 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Christina Daniels, 44, told Portland police she was backing out of a driveway when she hit a 2013 Honda Accord registered to Rebecca A. Howe, Portland.
Damage was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
