Bulldogs return for performance Sunday
Taking note
The Bulldogs will return to Hein Amphitheatre at VanTrees Park in Fort Recovery for a performance at 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 28.
They’ll be performing music by Buddy Holly, the Beach Boys, the Righteous Brothers and more.
The summer series concert is free to the public.

Minnetrista has chosen to cancel the America’s Hometown Band concert, a Fourth of July event, this year. In addition, the Muncie gathering place will not be hosting food trucks and in line with its reopening plan, the main building exhibits will not be open for the public that evening.

Jay Schools wants public input on reopening schools and mitigating COVID-19 risks. A decision will be made by the school board on July 20.

The Bryant High School Alumni Association will not be celebrating a reunion this year due to COVID-19. The date for next year’s reunion is May 15, 2021.
IG picnic
The 65th anniversary Indiana Glass Picnic will be held July 12 at Frank W. Merry Park, 18505 N. 500 East, Dunkirk.
Past employees of Indiana Glass Co. will be honored.
The event, which is open to the public, begins at 7 a.m.,
There will be a trophy competition shoot at 7:30 a.., a fishing contest at 8 a.m. and a disc golf tournament at 9 a.m.
Retirees of Indiana Glass will be honored at noon during a flag ceremony.A cornhole tournament is set for 2 p.m., and the Steal Justice Band will perform at the same time.
At 5 p.m. it will be time for Steve Norman’s karaoke.
All day long there will be face painting, a bake sale, crafters, vendors and refreshments.

The Portland Foundation Women’s Giving Circle grant applications are now being accepted.
The Women’s Giving Circle will award grants from $200 to $1,000 which focus on enhancing the capacity of Jay County’s not-for-profit organizations to support programming that addresses needs for children affected by substance abuse. The Circle wishes to fund innovative endeavors to educate and assist Jay County residents.
Applications are available on the foundation’s website – www.portlandfoundation.org. Applications are due July 17 by 5 pm. For further information contact Jessica Cook at (260) 726-4260 or [email protected].
The Women’s Giving Circle serves in an advisory capacity to the foundation board of trustees on distributions from the Women’s Endowment Fund and the Women’s Giving Circle Fund.
The mission of the Circle is to build a community of women philanthropists through the pooling of knowledge and resources for the purpose of providing grants to Jay County organizations and initiatives that address mutually-agreeable issues.
Since 2005, it has awarded grants totaling $27,218.
