Diabetes prevention program set

Adams Memorial Hospital will be offering a diabetes prevention program starting April 30. The program is specifically designed for people that have pre-diabetes or for those that believe they are at risk for diabetes or have a high A1C (5.7-6.4%).
The class series consists of multiple one-hour sessions starting on Thursday, April 30, at the Adams Memorial Hospital Strickler Cancer Institute in the Strickler Library.
The Strickler Cancer Institute is the building adjacent to Adams Memorial Hospital, Decatur. Two session times are being offered, a day session from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or an evening session from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. To register or get more information, contact Lisa McAfee, RN, at (260) 724-2145, extension 11107.
Spring classes
The National Center for Great Lakes Native American Culture has scheduled its spring cultural art classes on March 28 and 29. The classes, which will be held in the Women’s Building at the Jay County Fairgrounds, will focus of flute-making, beadwork and Native American culture.
The fee for the adult class is $50 per person for members of the center and $75 for non-members. The fee for the children’s class is $20. In both cases, there is an additional charge for materials.
Pre-registration is required, and the deadline for registration is March 20.

Roundup
The annual pre-registration for prospective kindergarten students for next school year will begin March 31 at Bloomfield Elementary School.
Redkey and Westlawn elementary schools will have kindergarten roundup April 1, with East Elementary School to follow April 2.
Doors will open at 8:45 a.m. on all three days.
