Sylvia Carrigan, age 57, passed away Monday, March 16, 2020, at her Portland home. She enjoyed crafts and wrote over 300 poems. She was a member of the Portland Eagles Lodge.
Sylvia Carrigan was born Aug. 24, 1962, in Portland, Indiana, the daughter of Donald and Nellie (Sheffer) Renner. She was married on June 20, 2009, to Fred Carrigan.

Her beloved husband — Fred Carrigan, Portland, Indiana
Four daughters — Libby Rozelle (husband: Ronnie), Hartford City, Indiana, Takoa Duff (husband: Mathew), Portland, Indiana, Jessica Ochoa, Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Mariah Wetz, Pennville, Indiana
One stepson — Kyle Carrigan (wife-Rosa), Portland, Indiana
One stepdaughter — Kayla Arnold, North Webster, Indiana
Four brothers — Butch, Charles, Ronald and David Renner
Two sisters — Diane Renner and Marla Patterson
Nine grandchildren
Due to health precautions designated by the State of Indiana, private visitation and funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2020, in the Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. The Rev. Phil Jellison will officiate the services. Private burial for the family will take place on Wednesday in Salamonia Cemetery, southeast of Portland.
Memorials may be directed to Riley Children’s Hospital.
