Obituary
James F. “Doc” Vaughn DDS, age 82, of Fort Recovery, passed away on March 26, 2020, at Briarwood Village, Coldwater.
He was born Nov. 15, 1937, in Youngstown, Ohio, to the late Frank and Rita (Green) Vaughn. On June 22, 1963, he married Carolyn (Pitt) Vaughn, who passed away on June 28, 2016.
Surviving are his children, Colleen Vaughn (Kendall Storie) of Fort Worth, Texas, James A. (Sharon) Vaughn of Fort Recovery and Jeff (Shelly) Vaughn of Fort Recovery; grandchildren Brook Vaughn, Shelby (Kevin) Wynk, Heather (Kenny) Wenning, Tori Vaughn, Trevor Vaughn and Alli Vaughn; a sister, Sue (Oscar) Jutte of Fort Recovery; and an in-law, Ed (Joyce) Pitt of Springfield, Ohio.
He was a 1955 graduate of Chaney High School, Youngstown, and was a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, Columbus, Ohio.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and practiced dentistry on the USS Hancock during the Vietnam Era. After his service, he operated his own dental practice in Fort Recovery for 36 years. “Doc” was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3324 and Psi Omega Dental Fraternity. He was also a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery, and was a choir member for many years.
He enjoyed flowers, glassware, fishing, casinos, auctions, reading and being a member of the Fort Recovery Historical Society.
Because of coronavirus restrictions, a funeral mass and interment in Spring Hill Cemetery with military honors will be held at a later date.
