Crouch honored as chef of year for Indy region
Taking note
Jay County native Jason Crouch has won the Chef of the Year Award from the Indianapolis Chapter of the American Culinary Federation.
Now a resident of Center Grove, Crouch is executive chef for Embassy Suites by Hilton in Noblesville.
He attended culinary school at Ivy Tech and studied at the Paul Bocuse Institute in France.
Prior to his current position, he worked at Mesh restaurant in Indianapolis.
“Before I graduated high school I knew I was going to go to culinary school, so I used my college visitation days to come down to Indianapolis and do job interviews” Crouch told Center Grove Magazine. “I started two jobs down here in Indy before I graduated high school and paid for culinary school that way.”

A number of area students have made the dean’s list at Ball State University for the spring.
Those include Daniel Fugiett, Riley Leavell, Maddi Louck, Dawn Minnick, Dustink Minnick and Mackenzie Staver from Redkey.
Also Taylor Donathan Nikki Evans, Spencer Evans, Gabe Faulkner and Kady Finnerty from Dunkirk.

Rescheduled
LifeStream has rescheduled its annual Aging Well Conference to Thursday, June 3, 2021.
The new date will be hosted at the same location, the Horizon Convention Center in Muncie, and LifeStream anticipates hosting the same speakers and breakout sessions that were planned for the 2020 date.
The COVID-19 pandemic changed those plans.
The Aging Well Conference is designed for older adults, caregivers, wellness enthusiasts, and health professionals to learn how to make positive changes in their lives and the lives of others.
Registration and sponsorship/resource fair information will be released early spring 2021.
Retirees help
Volunteers from the Indiana Retired Teachers Association, the Indiana State Teachers Association and the American Federation of Teachers Indiana are providing a “Call and Learn” hotline to help students and parents during the pandemic.
The hotline is open every weekday from 1 to 5 p.m. at (877) 45-STUDY (877-457-8839).
After identifying the student’s grade level, middle and high school students are matched to educators with expertise in math, science, language arts and social studies, while elementary students are paired with general education elementary teachers.
