It’s official.
Dunkirk Mayor Jack Robbins confirmed last week that due to the coronavirus pandemic, there will be no Glass Days festival in May.
The future of the festival had been in doubt, but a new group of volunteers had planned on having the annual event later this month at Dunkirk City Park.
Those plans have been shelved, Robbins said, because of COVID-19. Organizers hope that Glass Days can return in 2021.
Meanwhile, the Berne Chamber of Commerce has canceled this July’s Swiss Days festival.
It had originally been set for July 23 through 25.
In question
Dunkirk city officials hope to make a decision soon on the opening of Dunkirk Municipal Pool.
The coronavirus pandemic has cities and towns weighing their options with swimming pools this summer as guidelines from the governor’s office go into effect.
Portland has postponed the opening of its water park but has not canceled the season. Bluffton, however, has decided not to open its swimming pool at all because of the virus.
Curb service
Fort Recovery Public Library began offering limited curbside services this week.
Patrons may begin placing requests by phone, email, or using the online catalog. Items available will be limited.
Patrons will be asked to remain in their vehicles and staff will place requested items in a trunk or unoccupied back seat.
Patrons should use a parking space at the front of the library.
