Obituary
Eva M. Weitzel, age 87, of Fort Recovery, passed away on May 20, 2020 ,at The Gardens at St. Henry.
She was born June 12, 1932, in St. Henry to the late Henry and Emilia (Kevelder) Borger. On Oct. 6, 1951, she married the late Joseph Weitzel, who died Oct. 3, 2005.
Surviving are her children, Mary and Jim Link of Bryant, Indiana, Ken Weitzel of Celina, Marilyn and Jerry Vogel of Fort Recovery, Ron Weitzel of New Weston, Ohio, Jim and Linda Weitzel of Fort Recovery, and Barb and Steve Schlarman of St. Henry; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; sister Anna Marie and Bill Bertke of St. Henry; and in-laws Mary Ann Weitzel of Coldwater, Ohio, and Alice Weitzel of St .Henry.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Heitkamp; son-in-law, Jim Brunswick; siblings, Norma Borger, Margaret and Lamar Bierly and Clara and Richard Crombie; infant siblings, Mildred, Frederick, Mary and Bernard; and in-laws, Aloys and Sally Weitzel, Arthur and Vita Weitzel, Cletus Weitzel, Lawrence and Marie Weitzel, Richard and Betty Weitzel, Julius Weitzel, Alvina and Arthur Rindler, Lorena and Wilbert Boeckman, Dorothy and Herb Timmerman, Edna Rose, Julian Rammel and Luke Rose.
Eva was a 1950 graduate of St. Henry High School and was formerly employed at Celina Insurance Group, Celina. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Sharpsburg, and the church's Altar Rosary Sodality.
She loved baking, canning, embroidering and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery, with Fr. Ned Brown as celebrant. A live stream of the mass will be available at fortrecoverycatholics.org/streamspot. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, Sharpsburg.
