Library will reopen Tuesday
Jay County Public Library will reopen to the public on Tuesday.
Hours will initially be limited to 8 a.m. 5 p.m. each weekday and will gradually be expanded over the next six weeks.
The reopening is in compliance with guidelines from the Jay County Health Department. Curbside delivery will still be available.
Library spokesmen said patrons will find things a little different when the library reopens.
Some furniture will be unavailable, and the front-desk has been changed. Public computers will have a 45-minute time limit per day per user.
Many of the items on the children’s side of the library will not be available.
All items returned with be sanitized before they go back into circulation.
“We strongly encourage all patrons to wash or sanitize their hands when entering the building and also expect patrons to observe physical distancing. We are allowing each individual to make their own decision on wearing a mask. There will also be regular sanitizing of high traffic touch points. And, if you are experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, please come back later when you are feeling better,” a library spokesman said.
Seeking royalty
Application packets for the 2020 Miss Jay County Fair queen pageant are available at True Value Hardware, Jay County High School and Dollar General.

LifeStream Services and Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana are expanding their Senior Safety Net Food Distribution partnership, the organizations announced Friday.
The Senior Safety Net Food Distribution program is intended to provide easy access locations for seniors to receive nutritious foods.
The two are preparing to expand their distribution sites from 3 locations to 10 this summer. Senior Safety Net Food Distributions are currently located in Daleville, Portland and Union City. The new locations will be spread throughout Delaware and Madison counties, with additional locations being explored.
The program is in need of active volunteers to help manage the distribution of items on distribution days. Those interested in volunteering should contact Laura Bray, Volunteer Services Administrator, at 765-759-3372 or email [email protected].
Craft kits
LifeStream Services and Paint the Towne, Richmond, are going to provide craft kits for caregivers to enjoy at home.
Craft kits are available to the first 50 registered, complimentary of LifeStream and Paint the Towne. Kits are limited to one per household. Those interested in reserving a kit should fill out the registration form at www.lifestreaminc.org/craftkits or contact Beth Evans at (765) 405-3001 or [email protected]. LifeStream will coordinate the mailing or delivery. The project is a part of the Dementia Friends initiative which works to educate communities on how to become a safe place for people living with dementia and their caregivers. Paint the Towne is an interactive art studio in the Historic Depot District.
