Obituary
Marian K. Ashley, age 94, Greenwood, Indiana, passed away Monday, May 18, 2020, at Greenwood Meadows. She was a former Jay County resident.
Marian was born, March 24, 1926, in Jay County, Indiana, the daughter of Arthur L. and Ethel M. (Via) Pensinger. Marian graduated from Portland High School in 1944 and married Gerald “Bob” Ashley, May 11, 1946. He preceded Marian in death on June 6, 1991. She was a member of Our Lady of the Greenwood, Queen of the Holy Rosary Church.
Survivors include:
Three daughters — Juanita Russell (Andy), Indianapolis, Indiana, Jeanette Hoffman (John), Portland, Indiana, and Joy Ashley, Wabash, Indiana
Four grandchildren — Janifer (Jeff) Price, Diane Hoffman, Tamara (Zig) Meluskey and Elizabeth (Billy) Carney
Four great-grandchildren — Jacob and Grace Meluskey, and Ruby and Zoey Carney
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter Joan Kay; and siblings Mary Bryan, Kenneth Pensinger, Garth Pensinger, Gerald Pensinger and Juanita Pensinger
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home, Portland. A short service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Darrel Borders officiating. Burial will follow at Little Salamonia Cemetery with Father Bob Moran presiding.
A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at 3 p.m. at Our Lady of the Greenwood.
Memorials may be directed to Our Lady of the Greenwood Church in Greenwood, Indiana, or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portland.
