An annual event will take on a different format this year.
Arts Place this week announced its plans for its Holiday Benefit Auction, including online and radio formats.
The organization typically holds its annual auction fundraiser on a Friday evening in Goodrich Hall at its Portland location. Because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, that will change this year.
A silent auction at Arts Place, 131 E. Walnut St., will run from 10 a.m. Nov. 16 through 4 p.m. Nov. 19. Participants can visit the facility during regular hours — 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday — to place their bids or place bids on Facebook. Winners will be announced Nov. 20.
A pair of online auctions are scheduled for 6 p.m. Nov. 20 on WPGW 100.9 FM and 10 a.m. Nov. 21. The first will include traditional auction items, and the second will feature family items and packages such as trip vouchers.
An online auction is scheduled from 6:30 p.m. Nov. 30 via Facebook Live. Participants will be in real time.

Event is tonight
Limberlost State Historic Site will host a Marsh After Dark event from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Loblolly Marsh Nature Preserve.
The event, on a day with a high of 70 degrees expected, will begin with a walk in the dark to experience the marsh in a different way. There will also be a nature presentation, followed by the Firelight Theater Variety Show.
Attendees will be invited to entertain with a story, song, dance, poem or other talent. The event will conclude with a gathering around the fire, complete with hot chocolate and s’mores.
Masks are required, and participants should bring their own flashlight.
The event will begin at the nature preserve parking lot at 8323 N. 250 West, Bryant.
Admission ranges from $2.25 for youth members to $4 for adult non-members.
Help is needed
